Desktop AI, explained
“Bring your own API key” means you connect an AI account you control. The key is a private access code that lets LUC send requests to your chosen provider. No coding needed.
The US$69.99 app price does not include AI usage. Your provider charges you directly for the requests you make. LUC adds no AI usage charge.
Choose a supported provider in LUC’s setup guide. Open that provider’s key and billing pages, create a key and review its usage controls.
In Desktop, open Settings → AI Provider. Paste and save your key. A supported model is already selected. Your key stays protected on that computer.
Start with a made-up example, then review the result. AI needs internet, and even a connection test may incur a small provider charge.
AI is optional. Keep entering marks, taking attendance and grading manually without a key or provider bill. A ChatGPT or other chat subscription can have separate API billing. Provider budget alerts are not always hard spending caps. Read the full setup guide.
Your Desktop purchase
Pay securely through Stripe. On the confirmation page, save your licence and private recovery file for later access.
Pick Apple silicon or Intel, then the installed or portable edition. Internet is needed to activate each computer, up to three at a time.
Manual tools keep working offline indefinitely after activation. Google Classroom, optional AI and updates need internet. Future Desktop updates are included.
